Victor Leithold Jr.
Victor Floyd Leithold Jr., 95, of Fenelton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, after living a full and happy life. He was born on Nov. 2, 1929, in Butler, and was the son of the late Victor F. Sr. and Rose (Portman) Leithold.
Vic owned oil wells and real estate and worked as superintendent for T.W. Phillips Oil & Gas Co. for 50 years before retiring in 2003.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean conflict, where he attained the rank of sergeant and served as Section Leader 1st Battalion, 33rd Infantry Regiment.
He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and as an usher; the Elks Club; the American Legion Post 0828; the Butler County Law Enforcement Association; as well as the Brady Paul Lodge.
Vic was a hardworking man, dedicated to his family and friends, the kind of man who would drop whatever he was doing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed classic cars, mowing grass, country music, and above all, spending time with loved ones. He was a magnetic force, to whom people gravitated. He was compassionate, loving, caring and attentive, and he had a terrific sense of humor and joy for life.
Vic is survived by his son, Markus (Sharolyn) Leithold, of Brentwood, Calif.; his daughter, Paula (Larry) Dorondo, of Fenelton; his stepson, Gregory (Cathy) Myers, of Fenelton; his five grandchildren, Michael (Erica) Dorondo, Aaron (Samantha) Dorondo, Scarlett Leithold, Wolfgang Leithold and Martine Leithold; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, B. Jayne (Fullerton) Leithold, whom he loved, adored and married Aug. 8, 1956, and who died May 16, 2012; his brother, Paul Leithold; as well as his sister, Donna (Leithold) Emrick.
Dad (Pappy), we will miss you, immensely. You were our “go-to guy” when life got tough and the first person we would call with good news. You were our sanity in this crazy world and our comfort when we needed clarity. You were always someone we could count on, and although you were a straight shooter, you always got your point across without judgment, and always provided us sound advice. From you, we learned to love unconditionally, be courageous and have a solid work ethic. We thank you for all the calls, and the wonderful lives we all have lived, because of you and your boundless love for us. We are all better people because of you. That is your legacy. We will forever miss you and keep you in our hearts. God got a good one.
