Walter 'Lloyd' Slaugenhaupt
Walter "Lloyd" Slaugenhaupt, 72, of Fink Road, Rimersburg, passed away of natural causes at 4:18 p.m. Friday at the Clarview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Sligo.
He was born in Toby Township, Clarion County, Aug. 1, 1937, and was a son of the late Walter F. Slaugenhaupt and Elizabeth Anna Rankin Slaugenhaupt.
He was a member of the Cherry Run United Methodist Church, and he was a 1955 graduate of the Union High School in Rimersburg.
He served with the U.S. Army Reserves for five years and was called to active duty two times, attaining the rank of Private E-2.
He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in engineering in 1960.
He was employed at Indspec Chemical Corp. in Petrolia as manager of engineering, retiring in 1997 after 34 years.
He married the former Kay Minick on March 21, 1964, in the Tidal Presbyterian Church, and she survives along with two sons, Greg A. Slaugenhaupt and his wife, Deena, of Charlestown, R.I., and Brian S. Slaugenhaupt and his wife, Karla, of Cecil, Pa.; two daughters, Sheri L. Vidunas and her husband, Joseph, of State College and Chris A. Felix and her husband, Dave, of Reynoldsville; six grandchildren, Annie E. Vidunas and Benjamin J. Vidunas, both of State College, Nicholas J. Felix and Natalie K. Felix, both of Reynoldsville, Pa., Parker T. Slaugenhaupt of Charlestown, R.I., and Lane S. Slaugenhaupt of Cecil, Pa.; and a sister, Alice Faye Gallagher and her husband, Jan, of Oak Grove Road, Rimersburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father on Jan. 30, 1980; his mother on May 27, 1993; and one brother, Harvey Eugene Slaugenhaupt on Jan. 6, 2009.
<B>SLAUGENHAUPT</B> — Friends of Walter "Lloyd" Slaugenhaupt, who died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home </B>in Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Russell, pastor of the Sligo United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Richard Eddinger, retired United Methodist minister, officiating.
