Allan C. “Al” Tillander

Allan C. “Al” Tillander, 80, of Lancaster Township, formerly of New York and New Jersey, passed away Tuesday at the VA Butler Healthcare.

Born June 20, 1936, in Queens, N.Y., he was the son of the late Albert and Olga (Swenson) Tillander.

Allan shared these special words about himself, “I have a wife, five children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild on the way. I served as a cook in the Navy. I worked at the (U.S.) Postal Service and retired as a supervisor. I have a dog named Ethel. I used to speak with people across the world through HAM radio. I love to watch the Steelers and Pirates.”

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Donna (Meyer) Tillander; his five children, Allan C. Tillander Jr. of Beachwood, N.J., Steve Tillander of Beachwood, N.J., Thomas Tillander of Palmetto, Ga., Stacy McCandless of Renfrew and Denise Lambros of South Hackensack, N.J.; his sister, Alice Kearny of New Jersey; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.

In addition to his parents, Allan was preceded in death by his two brothers, Lenny Tillander and Bobby Tillander.

TILLANDER — Services for Allan C. “Al” Tillander, who died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, were conducted privately by Allan's family at his request.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
