MHY Family services appoints new CEO

Samantha Ellwood

Samantha Ellwood was appointed chief executive officer of MHY Family Services in Adams Township.

She will start in her position Jan. 6.

Ellwood will lead MHY’s strategic initiatives, programs and community partnerships, according to a news release. This will include the operations of Longmore Academy, as well as expanding community programs around the state.

MHY Family Services is a nonprofit organization that supports at-risk youth and families with a focus on youth development, education and mental health.

Ellwood will succeed Lisa Schiller, who held the role for 12 years.

“Sam’s leadership style is a perfect complement to MHY’s mission and future plans,” Jim Rankin, president of MHY’s board of directors, said in the release.

Ellwood previously served as executive director of The Woodlands Foundation, which works to enrich quality of life for individuals and families navigating disabilities and chronic illnesses. She also worked at Providence Connections.

“I value the opportunity to carry on Lisa Schiller’s work as we continue to develop the support and space for families and children to grow, learn, and thrive. I can’t wait to contribute to the team, the families, and the community,” Ellwood said in the release.
