Franklin Township approves 2025 budget with no tax increases

Franklin Township supervisors approved the 2025 budget with no tax increases during a meeting Monday, Dec. 16.

The budget amounted to $1,435,000, a decrease from the adopted 2024 budget that totaled $1,485,000.

The millage rate will remain steady at 3.75 mills, and the fire protection tax levy of 2 mills will also stay the same heading into the new year.

After Erica Northrop, a director of the Prospect Boys and Girls Club, petitioned the board to consider increasing its annual donation at a Nov. 18 meeting, supervisors opted to increase its donation to the club from $1,000 to $5,000 for the upcoming year.

Supervisors also chose to maintain annual donations to Prospect Community Library and the Meals on Wheels program.

There was a move to pull $100,000 out of the construction budget and transfer it to maintenance for tree trimming. At the Nov. 18 meeting, members of the board said trees on certain roads had become hazardous to larger commercial and emergency vehicles.
