Theodore J. “Ted” Schnur, 61, of Butler passed away Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born on Dec. 23, 1951, in Butler, he was the son of the late Clair and Margaret Jackman Schnur.

He was a retired installer for the North Pittsburgh Telephone Co., where he was employed for 20 years. He was formerly employed at West Penn Power, and he was also a self-employed electrician.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam War.

He was a former drummer in a local rock-and-roll band, The Horizon.

He was a major history buff of the Civil War, World War I and World War II, and he authored an inspirational book, “It Just Occurred to Me.”

Ted was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, and he belonged to the Roman Catholic Men's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Reddick Schnur, to whom he was married for 28 years; two sons, Nicholas J. Schnur and his wife, Dusty, of Fenelton and Adam E. Schnur and his fiancee, Elizabeth Rhodaberger, of East Butler; two sisters, Judy Isovitsch and her husband, Don, of Butler and Brenda Kildoo May and her husband, Daryl, of Clearwater, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Dakota Friez, Noah Schnur and Molly Schnur.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynette Schnur.

Father Ward Stakem, O.F.M. Cap., officiating.Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery.
