Paul Gillen Jr.
Paul Edward Gillen Jr., 83, of Butler passed away at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born May 8, 1932, in Washington County to the late Paul E. Gillen Sr. and Thelma (Garbut) Gillen.
Mr. Gillen was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War in Korea and Portsmouth, N.H. He worked at International Staple and Machine, retiring May 8, 1994.
Mr. Gillen was the owner of Gillen’s Artist Supplies and taught Watercolor Classes at BC3. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed watching golf, the Steelers and Penguins. He enjoyed cooking for his family and watching and feeding the birds and animals in his backyard. He loved his pets and will be rejoining Muffin, who has crossed the rainbow bridge.
Mr. Gillen is survived by his wife, Susan S. Gillen, who he married July 30, 1981; two sons, Scott Gillen and his wife, Ramonita of Merritt Island, Fla., and Paul Gillen of Lebanon, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Paul (Heather), Christopher, Jeffrey (Katie), Blake, Craig, Lindsey and Brianna; two great-grandchildren, Aydin and Kamryn Gillen; one sister, Gaynell DeMars of Richmond, Va.; two nieces and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother at birth; and an infant sister, Charlotte.
GILLEN — In accordance with the wishes of Paul Edward Gillen Jr., who died Wednesday, July 15, 2015, there will be no public visitation or services.
Arrangements are being handled by Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
