High school roundup: Karns City boys basketball trio shines in win vs Redbank Valley
Karns City boys basketball needed a big night on the offensive end. Three players in particular delivered it.
Cole Johnston, Jacob Jones and Shane Peters combined to score 80 points as the Gremlins outlasted Redbank Valley 89-81 in overtime Friday night.
Peters (20 points) grabbed 17 rebounds, Johnston (35) added seven assists and Jones (25) had four steals.
Braylon Wagner paced the Bulldogs with 27 points.
Seneca Valley 63, North Hills 55 — SV’s balanced scoring was too much for the Indians.
Owen Congdon scored 18 points to lead the way, but Andrew Omasits (13), Tyler Pepin (13) and Nico Santapau (10) also reached double figures.
The Raiders (3-6, 2-1) scored 27 points in the fourth quarter to stave off the Indians.
Knoch 74, Highlands 36 — The Knights (7-1, 3-0) opened the game with a 20-3 run. Jackson Bauman led Knoch with 19 points, and Teegan Finucan chipped in 15.
Lakeview 63, Slippery Rock 53 — Despite 30 points from Josh Book, the Rockets (4-2) fell to the visiting Sailors.
McNicholas (Ohio) 62, North Catholic 56 — At the Queen City Hoop Fest in Cincinnati, Jason Fredericks scored 20 for the Trojans (2-4).
Owen Maddalon added 17 and Jude Rottmann 16 in defeat.
Union 64, Forest Area 14 — Trent Fleming dropped 27 points for the Golden Knights (2-3) and Gage Jordan added 13.
Bryce Berekstazi (114 pounds), Christian Droz (121), David Cerra (139), Cooper Beres (189) and Landon Davis (215) each won by fall as Seneca Valley topped Mt. Lebanon 47-25.
Behind Greg Wilbert’s 597 series, which included a high game of 245, Butler’s boys bowling team defeated Seneca Valley 5-2 Wednesday to improve to 4-0 on the season.
Micah Potts shot a 226 and Conner St. Clair a 213 for the Golden Tornado.
Chance Evans rolled a pair of 205s for the Raiders and ended with a 597 series.
Butler’s girls are also now 4-0 after a sweep of SV. Makenzie Zimmerman paced the Tornado with a 525 series.
