Daryl Alben
Daryl Leroy Alben, 63, of Harrisville and formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away at AHN Grove City on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, following a short illness. He was born in Grove City on Aug. 7, 1961, and was the son of Willard Leroy Alben and Sally Lou Allen Alben. His mother, Sally, recently passed away on Nov. 27, 2024.
Daryl graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1980 and had worked on the family farm as a young man; he was a carrier for the Butler Eagle and later worked in food service as a pizza preparer.
He was a former member of Worth Grange and Friend Parish Church (former Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church) of Worth Township and was a Pittsburgh sports teams fan. He loved country music concerts and was an avid fan of Dan Schall.
Survivors include his father, Willard L. Alben of Slippery Rock; two brothers, Scott A. Alben of Slippery Rock and Brian W. (Tina C.) Alben of Butler.
He is preceded in death by his mother; and sister in-law, Ruth Alben in 2022.
ALBEN — The family of Daryl Leroy Alben, who died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, will receive friends from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Meling, retired pastor of Slippery Rock, presiding.
Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
