Summit Academy student arrested on assault charges
A student at Summit Academy in Summit Township allegedly broke another student’s jaw in an assault earlier this school year, according to charges filed last week.
The student, Jermanydragonfire Jayden Jordan Hineline, 18, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor simple assault and summary harassment and disorderly conduct, after police say he attacked another student after making comments about the student’s sister.
Hineline was taken into custody by state police from the Butler barracks after they received a call from the school regarding a reported assault on Sept. 19.
Police said Hineline made sexually charged comments to another student’s sister, and when that student and his friends confronted Hineline about the comments, he hit the student in the face.
Police said Hineline told them he struck the student in the face. A teacher witnessed the attack, police said.
The student who was struck was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for a broken jaw.
Hineline is awaiting a preliminary hearing before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
