Nowakowski

Mary Nowakowski, 80, of Butler, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024.

She was born in Butler on Aug. 11, 1944, to the late John and Helen (Kellar) Pensy.

Mary attended Moniteau High School. She enjoyed baking pies, cooking meals for family gatherings, watching hummingbirds and absolutely loved being a grandmother. She also enjoyed going to lunch with her sisters, brothers and family.

Mary had many animals throughout her life, and they were her passion; her beloved dogs, Lucy and Keisel, to her current “fur baby” puppy, Baby D, who was her constant companion.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Donald Nowakowski, whom she married on Aug. 27, 1961, and who passed away in 2023; mother of Mary Rene (Molly) Wilbert; sister of Helen (Herb) Corey, Loretta Kerr and John Pensy and his wonderful companion, Wilma; grandmother of Dustin (Chelsea) Bowser and Emily Nowakowski; great-grandmother of Nataley, Ava, Ryder and Vivienne. Mary also is survived by her son-in-law, Keith Wilbert, who held a very special place in her heart.

Along with her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Donald (Beth) Nowakowski; and by her sister-in-law, Mary “Merch” Pensy.

NOWAKOWSKI — Family and friends of Mary Nowakowski, who died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A Catholic blessing service will immediately follow in the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately.
