Portersville man charged with stealing from jobsite

A Portersville man was charged with stealing several thousand dollars from his place of employment in Prospect.

Chad Alan Wimer, 33, was arrested by state police Monday, Dec. 23 and charged with two felonies stemming from the October incident.

State police said officers responded Oct. 24 to Cox Automotive at 128 Kennedy Lane in Prospect. Christopher Cox, the business owner, told police he normally keeps a “bank bag” in his safe, but left it on his desk with about $7,300 in it on Oct. 22. When he returned the next day, the bag was missing, he said.

On Oct. 24, state police interviewed Wimer at the business. Wimer told state police he had worked there the day of the incident, and denied seeing the bag.

On Oct. 26, Cox contacted state police and told them Wimer had admitted to stealing the bag. Cox said Wimer returned $3,900 of the money, but said he no longer had the remainder. Cox also accused Wimer of taking various tools from the building.

Wimer is awaiting a preliminary hearing before District Judge Joseph Nash.
