City cocaine dealer receives 5 to 15 years in state prison

A cocaine dealer from the city will spend 5 to 15 years in state prison.

Alexander Cash Jr., 31, pleaded guilty to one charge each in a handful of cases: possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, driving during suspension and two counts of delivery of cocaine.

Court records say drugs played a role in each of the cases, all of which were filed in 2010 and 2011. In at least one incident, Cash sold crack cocaine to a police informant and in another case, in March 2011, the Butler County Drug Task Force raided his Virginia Avenue home and confiscated eight grams of suspected crack cocaine and more than $1,000.

Cash made no comment when he was sentenced Thursday by Butler County Judge Timothy McCune.

Cash, according to Butler County Court records, has cases dating back to 2000 and was on probation at the time of his arrest in these cases.

His previous convictions include felony theft, misdemeanor drug possession, terroristic threats, trespass, simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Court records say Cash, who also has used an Allegheny County address in the past, sometimes uses an alias.
