Mars resident Fred Vuich has been named the fifth recipient of the PGA of America Lifetime Achievement Award in Photojournalism.

Vuich will be honored in April during the 51st annual ISPS Golf Writers Association of America dinner in Augusta, Georgia, the PGA of America said.

Vuich covered his first major championship at the 1983 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Allegheny County.

With a career spanning more than 40 years, Vuich has held other sports photography positions, including serving as team photographer for the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL team in 1984.

His career also includes work with Major League Baseball, the National Football League, the United States Golf Association, PGA TOUR and the NCAA.
