Ann E. Malone, 87, of Indianola, Allegheny County, passed away Sunday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, Cabot.

She was born June 30, 1923, in Langeloth, Washington County, to the late Joseph and Rosalie (Turba) Smigelski.

She was a member of the 1941 Class of Burgettstown High School.

She worked at the Indianola Rod & Gun Club, The Bradley Center for Children, and the Indianola Mushroom Farm.

Ann was very good at knitting, crocheting and sewing and made numerous afghans and decorative items over the years. She loved gardening and flowers, enjoyed woodworking projects and word and jigsaw puzzles, and she was a lifelong Steelers fan.

After she quit smoking, she began walking in many 5K races in the area, placing in her age group at the Great Race and Riverview Park 5K.

Surviving are her eight children, Valerie M. (Robert) Sands of Butler, Carole M. (Edward) Zwigart of Mars, Sandra M. (Donald) Leslie of Blowing Rock, N.C., Harry (Darla) Malone of Cabot, Joseph (Trish) Malone of Gibsonia, Nick Malone of Gibsonia, Patricia Szoss of Russellton and Michael Malone of Indianola; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph (Alberta) Smigelski of Monaca.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Malone; a son-in-law, Edward Zwigart; her companion, Richard Altenbaugh; and sisters, Anastasia (Harry) Courtright, Valerie (Al) May and Mary (Lewis) Mader.

<B>MALONE</B> — Visitation for Ann E. Malone, who died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a memorial service to follow at the <B>Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home & Crematory</B>, 930 Center Ave, Blawnox.Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, Gift Processing Center, P.O.
