Man in recovery house in Butler charged with drug distribution
A Butler man staying in a recovery house in the city was charged with possession with intent to deliver after about 64 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine was found in his room on Jan. 1.
Butler police arrested Homer P. Page, 43, on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The man who owns the house called police and reported that he found about 2 ounces of suspected crystal methamphetamine in knotted plastic bags and folded pieces of foil possibly containing LSD in a Pringles can in a closet in Page’s bedroom, according to an affidavit.
The owner told police he received information suggesting Page might be trafficking methamphetamine and looked in his room to avoid issues with the recovery house, according to the affidavit.
Police responded and obtained the can and contents from the owner, and then talked with Page, who told police he had to raise over $2,000 for a down payment on a home and that he paid about $500 for the items in the can, according to the affidavit.
Police said the can contained a baggie containing 57.65 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and another with 6.48 grams, another baggie containing two folded sheets of foil containing suspected LSD, and an empty bag containing residue. A digital scale also was found in his room, police said.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
