BlueSox, Sliders snare weekend wins
Matt Berezo had a home run to highlight a six-run third inning to carry the Butler Blue Sox to a 7-3 victory over the Chillicothe Paints in Prospect League action Sunday.
Berezo added a pair of singles and two RBI while Taylor Juran had a double and RBI and Jon Danielczyk also drove in a run for Butler (10-12), which snapped a three-game losing streak.
James Connelly picked up the win, allowing three runs on seven hits in 5Z\c innings. He struck out four and walked two.
Drew Dosch had a single, double and home run and Justin Trent a double and Brad Clement two singles for Chillicothe (10-12), which saw its three-game winning streak snapped.
In Saturday’s games:
• Fred Ford smacked two doubles and an RBI and Michael Durham a double and RBI to lead the Slippery Rock Sliders to a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Outlaws at Jack Critchfield Park.
Chris Vopinek scattered seven hits over six innings, allowing one earned run to drop his ERA to 0.69.
Kevin Burgi added a double for Slippery Rock (7-14). Joey Rapp and Doug Joyce had two hits each for the Outlaws.
• Jason Radwan had three of the Blue Sox’s five hits, but host Chillicothe captured a 6-1 triumph.
Steve Anderson and Brad Clement homered and singled for the Paints.
The BlueSox are off today while the Sliders play in Chillicothe.
