County sheriff running for reelection in May primary
Butler County Sheriff Mike Slupe told the Butler Eagle on Friday, Jan. 10, he is running for reelection.
Slupe, who has served as Butler County Sheriff since 2010, will be running in the May 20 primary election.
“Under Sheriff Slupe’s leadership, the office has implemented innovative office management systems, online License to Carry Firearms permits, and online sheriff sales. The office continues to perform security for the Courts and the County government and is responsible for handling the transport of prisoners,” the news release from his team said.
Slupe serves as chairman of the prison board, and is also the current vice president of the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association. He previously served as its president.
“Sheriff Slupe personally manages 33 deputies and 4 clerical staff with a budget of over $3.5 million. Under Slupe’s leadership, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office has maintained its accreditation by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission,” the release said.
According to Slupe’s LinkedIn profile, he worked as a patrol officer for 20 years before serving as county sheriff, starting in 1988.
