Police: Vehicle catches fire, ammo set off, after hitting deer
PENN TWP — A vehicle caught fire Sunday evening, Jan. 12, after hitting a deer on Pittsburgh Road.
The accident was reported around 6:15 p.m. and Penn Township police and volunteer fire department responders arrived on scene shortly after.
Police said the vehicle fire was fully involved, and ammunition in the car was set off by the fire. The fire department were able to control and then put out the fire.
Butler Township Police assisted in closing a section of Pittsburgh Road until the situation was controlled. The road closure lasted around 45 minutes to an hour, police said.
According to police, the driver received minor injuries, but refused transport to the hospital.
Police are still investigating the incident.
