Milestone: Slippery Rock’s Josh Book reaches 1,000 points in overtime win vs. Sharon

Slippery Rock’s Josh Book had one memorable night Wednesday against Sharon at the Launch Pad.

Not only did the senior forward score his 1,000th career point, he also hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime, where the Rockets topped the Tigers 88-82.

Book finished the night with 31 points as Slippery Rock improved to 9-4.

North Catholic’s 40-36 win over Knoch featured four Trojan pins — Victor Wagner (121 pounds), Cayden McGuinness (145), Scott Huffmyer (160) and Max Lindner (285).

Derrick Glover (172) and Wyatt Foster (215) won by fall for the Knights.

North Allegheny 64, Seneca Valley 6 — Zach Hill’s pin of Diego Cedillo-Guzman in 17 seconds at 139 pounds accounted for the Raiders’ lone win.

Girls wrestling

Knoch earned its first-ever team win, topping Hampton 24-18.

Makayla Pethtel (170) and Braylee Ireland (124) both won by fall for the Knights.

Butler 36, Burrell 30 — Earning pins for the Golden Tornado were Brin Zehmisch (118 pounds) and Anastasia Manchester (136).

Girls basketball

The combination of Mylee Harmon and Addy Bond was too much for Karns City as Redbank Valley posted a 55-46 victory over the visiting Gremlins.

Harmon scored 30 points and Bond 16 for the Bulldogs.

Savanna Prescott led KC (12-2) with 12 points. Both of the Gremlins’ losses have come against Redbank.

Cranberry 51, Union/A-C Valley 30 — Kya Wetzel scored 14 points in this loss for the Falcon Knights (4-6).

Bowling

Freeport’s boys defeated Redeemer Lutheran 5-2, highlighted by Colin Cummings’ single of 237.

Hannah Windows rolled a 639 series, including a high game of 223, as the ‘Jacket girls swept Redeemer Lutheran 7-0.
