Darlene Thompson
Darlene L. (McCormick) Thompson, 84, of Butler, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1940, in Butler, to the late John W. McCormick and the late Margaret E. (Fehl) McCormick.
Her hobbies included singing, going to the casino, playing the lottery, putting puzzles together, playing cards and Scrabble, watching the Hallmark Channel, feeding the hummingbirds, as well as spending time with her loving family. She also enjoyed going to races to watch her husband, David F. Thompson, drive stock car and bowling in a couples league together. Darlene had attended Nixon United Methodist Church. Most recently, she had begun attending Kiski Unity Free Methodist Church in Leechburg, PA.
Darlene is survived by one son, Ronald (Patty) Thompson of Enon Valley, Pa.; three daughters, Connie (Paul) Sweeney of Butler, Bonnie (Charles) Sarver of West Sunbury and Donna (Timothy) Musser of Apollo, Pa.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Margaret McCormick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including her “special niece,” Tess Lauteria.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, David F. Thompson, whom she married Dec. 14, 1956, and who passed away on Jan. 9, 2014; her granddaughter, Laura Sweeney Johnson; and her three brothers, Jack, Bob and Jim.
THOMPSON — Family and friends of Darlene L. (McCormick) Thompson, who died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Paul Eckenrode, of Kiski Unity Free Methodist Church, officiating.
A private burial will be held at Butler County Memorial Park.
