Jack W. Hinton Sr.

Jack W. Hinton Sr., 92, of Butler passed away Wednesday at VA Butler Healthcare.

He was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Butler to the late Walter E. Hinton and Bertha (Timblin) Hinton.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. Jack was a member of the Joseph T. Black Post 249 VFW and the American Legion Post 117 of Butler. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and playing baseball in his younger years. Jack especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his loving spouse, who he married June 23, 1949, Florence A. (Bowser) Hinton.

He also is survived by his daughter, Deborah L. Miller and her husband, Joseph, of Bairdford; two sons, Jack W. Hinton Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou, of Fenelton, and Raymond E. Hinton and his fiancee, Christine Eiler, of Butler.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Warren and her husband, Lewis, of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by two sisters, Leonabelle Ray and Elsie Good; and three brothers, Walter E. Hinton Jr., Robert N. Hinton and Lorraine Hinton.

HINTON — Friends of Jack W. Hinton Sr., who died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brandon Lenhart of the North Main Street Church of God officiating.
