Wardens checking on dogs

State dog wardens will be out in Butler County this month checking to make sure dogs are licensed.

County Treasurer Diane Marburger said wardens will be in the county on June 25 and June 30. She said they will check to make sure dogs’ rabies vaccines are up to date.

She said that wardens will have a list of addresses where dogs were licensed in 2014 but their owners have not gotten new licenses for 2015.

Additionally, Marburger said wardens have the right to check with residents at any dwelling where there is evidence of dogs.

Licenses are required for all dogs more than three months old. The cost of dog licenses ranges from $6.50 to $8.50.

The maximum fine for unlicensed dogs is $300.

Dog licenses are available online at www.doglicenses.us/PA/Butler/. The licenses also can be bought at several locations in the county and at Marburger’s office. That list is available at www.co.butler.pa.us/county-treasurer-dog-licenses-agents.
