CT, Mars secure playoff triumphs

Chris Norris tossed a complete-game four-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Cranberry Township evened the best-of-five Eagle County Baseball semifinals with a 4-0 victory over visiting Saxonburg Saturday.

Jim Burry had two hits, including a double, while John Hastings, Hugh Mulvey and Bill Clinefelter each had an RBI.

n Mars allowed Mars II just two hits and scored the game's only run in the fourth inning to take a 2-games-to-0 lead in its semifinals series.

Tim Geibel hurled the first four innings with six strikeouts and one walk, then Jim Devine threw the final three frames, also with six strikeouts and one walk.

Don Dell had two singles to lead Mars.

Weston Hillegas scattered six hits for Mars II in a complete-game effort, but was charged with the loss.
