PennDOT to reveal Route 228 plan
MIDDLESEX TWP — The final plan for the Route 228 Ball’s Bend realignment project will be displayed next week at an open house.
The state Department of Transportation will reveal the plan from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Middlesex Township municipal building at 133 Browns Hill Road.
PennDOT officials will update the project’s status and take comments on it.
PennDOT’s original plan was to straighten Route 228 from Route 8 to Quality Gardens, which would eliminate Ball’s bend and another sweeping bend at Harbison Road. PennDOT officials said that would create a safer Route 228.
But many residents objected to the plan because their properties would be eliminated or impacted by the newly aligned road.
An advisory committee of affected residents was formed to discuss the realignment project and report to PennDOT.
