HEART ASSOCIATION HEART BALL

Dr. David Rottinghaus of Butler Memorial Hospital and dancer Lindsay Fischer start the "Dancing wth the Docs" entertainment at the American Heart Association, Beaver Butler Counties division, Heart Ball at the Pittsburgh Marriott North on Saturday.

The American Heart Association, Beaver Butler Counties division, staged its signature black-tie event Saturday night in Cranberry Township.

The Heart Ball at the Pittsburgh Marriott North attracted 430 people and raised about $210,000.

This year's theme was Dancin' with the Docs. Doctors from Beaver and Butler counties competed in a dancing contest, and attendees voted with a donation for their favorite performance.

The top dancer was Wexford cardiologist Dr. Jeffrey Rich of Heritage Valley Health Systems.

“The doctors brought the house down. The money they raised went to the Open Your Heart part of the evening, which raised a record-setting $50,000,” said Barbara Roth, division director for Beaver and Butler counties.

Ron Vodenichar, general manager and co-publisher of the Butler Eagle, received an award for doubling the amount of money raised at two walk-a-thons last year in Butler County. The total went to $165,000 from $82,000 the year before.
