Mayor Dandoy announces bid for reelection
City mayor Bob Dandoy announced his intention to run for reelection Wednesday, Jan. 22.
If Dandoy is elected, he will be serving his second term as mayor. Prior to his incumbency, he was a city councilman and president of Butler Downtown.
“In 2021, the voters of the City of Butler gave me the honor of serving as their mayor,” Dandoy said in a statement. “I hope they will allow me to continue the work that I’ve begun and bring to a reality the vision that I’ve laid out for our city.”
Dandoy pointed to his work in facilitating the sale of BASA to PA American Water as one of his greatest accomplishments during his time in office.
“For too long we’ve been forced to defer critical expenditures for capital improvements, purchases and investments and were unable to provide any debt and tax relief for residents and businesses,” Dandoy said. “With these assets in place, we are poised to bring generational change to our community, change that will continue for decades to come.”
Dandoy’s announcement comes just one week after Republican councilman Don Shearer announced his candidacy for mayor.
The election of the city’s mayor will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
