High school roundup: Neah Ewing leads Knoch girls basketball to 4th win in a row; Karns City thumps Forest
Knoch girls basketball’s Neah Ewing scored 15 points, all on 3-pointers, and Karlee Buterbaugh added 12 as the Knights beat Highlands 39-33 Thursday night.
Knoch (8-8), which won its fourth straight and improved to 7-2 in WPIAL Section 1-4A play.
Karns City 56, Forest 9 — Brooklynn Taylor poured in a Gremlins-high 17 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, while Chloe Fritch added 11. Only one Fires player had more than one made basket against Karns City’s defense.
North Catholic 74, Valley 34 — The Trojanettes’ Sam Weir was a perfect 7 for 7 from the floor, leading North Catholic with 15 points. The Trojanettes led 55-19 after two quarters.
Conneaut 55, Moniteau 36 — Sophia Fleeger (15 points) and Charlotte Thompson (13) combined for 28 points for the Warriors.
Clarion-Limestone 53, Union/A-C Valley 14 — Maddy Dehart scored a team-high seven points for the Falcon Knights. Six of them came in the third quarter before UAC was held scoreless in the fourth.
Mya Lee set a personal record in diving with a score of 251.85, and Mars girls swimming’s 200-yard medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and Regan Connelly (50 freestyle) made WPIAL title meet cuts as the Planets lost to Moon 97-85 Thursday night.
The Planets’ boys also lost to Moon, 95-77, but Luke Lamb qualified for WPIALs in the 200 free and 100 fly.
