Alvino “Alvin” James Mackin, 90, of Butler, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born Oct. 11, 1934, in Butler, he was a son of the late James and Florinda Gonano Mackin.

Alvin worked at the Pullman Standard plant in Butler until it closed.

He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

He belonged to the Sons and Daughters of Italy.

He is survived by two nephews, Gordon Gage of Sacramento, Calif., and David Mackin of Butler; and one niece, Christine Mackin of West Sunbury.

In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer “Moe” Mackin and his wife, Mary Ann; one sister, Ada Gage and her husband, Jack; one nephew, Greg Gage; and Vicky Gage, the beloved wife of Alvin’s nephew, Gordon Gage.

MACKIN — Friends of Alvino “Alvin” James Mackin, who died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, will be received from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday at All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with the Rev. John J. Baver officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
