Pennsylvania state Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-8th, has been appointed chairman of the House Subcommittee on Railroads for the 2025-26 session.

Bernstine’s district — which includes both Butler and Lawrence counties — has been affected by two Norfolk Southern train derailments that took place in 2023. One took place in East Palestine, Ohio, in February, with environmental effects spilling into Lawrence County. Another happened in New Castle in May.

Bernstine also serves on the House Committees for Insurance, Labor & Industry and Intergovernmental Affairs & Operations.
