Woman dies following pedestrian-vehicle crash in Evans City

A woman died at a Pittsburgh hospital Tuesday, Jan. 28, following a crash Monday evening in Evans City, where she was struck by a vehicle, according to state police.

June M. Ruff, 62, of Slippery Rock, was struck by a vehicle while crossing East Main Street in Evans City at around 6:22 p.m. Monday, according to state police.

A crash report indicated there are no dedicated crosswalks for pedestrians nor indicators for motorists at the intersection.

The driver, Alexander Kocko Jr., 31, of Lyndora, stopped at the scene and attempted to render aid to Ruff, state police said. He was driving a 2008 Ford Mustang.

Harmony EMS and Evans City Fire Department arrived on scene and Ruff was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, where she died due to her injuries on Tuesday.

State police are investigating the crash.
