Jeep Heritage Festival registration now open
Jeep fanatics excited to attend the 2016 Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival need wait no longer — registration for the event is open.
To register for the festival, which will be June 10-12, people can visit the website www.bantamjeepfestival.com, where the Friends of the Bantam Jeep Association has launched its registration portal.
This year’s Jeep Invasion in downtown Butler will be from 6 to 10 p.m. June 10. Festival activities at Cooper’s Lake Campground will be on June 10, 11 and 12.
A new addition this year will be “Bantam Jeep Night Ops Mission 2016” on June 9, starting at 9:30 p.m. This is a night ride on a stock trail at Cooper’s Lake, said festival director Patti Jo Lambert, that will end with a bonfire. Participants will also get an entry in the Jeep Invasion, the Mystery Road Rally, the Ruff ‘n Tuff and other activities.
Registration for the ride is limited to 105 vehicles, and it does not require vehicles with special modifications, organizers said.
The association took over management of the festival in November from the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau, and President Rodney Schaffer called the 2016 festival a turning point in the planning process because of the good track record of successful festivals.
He said that foundation will allow the planners to have more time to think about how to grow the festival through new events like the night ops mission.
“Now we’re starting to look at it from a different perspective,” he said. “You don’t have to reinvent the wheel each time, (and) there’s not a whole lot that needs tweaked, so we can branch out.”
