Carson Kane scored 15 points and Gavin Tola added 14 as Freeport gave its WPIAL playoff hopes a boost with a 57-51 win over Burrell in boys basketball action Friday.
A 21-point fourth quarter helped the Yellowjackets (6-12, 3-7) seal the victory.
North Catholic 69, Highlands 52 — Jason Fredericks scored 20 points, and Jude Rottmann chipped in 17 to lead the Trojans (14-5, 9-1) to a road victory.
Rottmann drained five 3-pointers.
Sharon 59, Slippery Rock 51 — The Tigers prevailed thanks to a 23-15 edge in the final quarter.
The Rockets (11-6) received 20 points and nine rebounds from Josh Book while Max Kovacik netted 12 points.
Nazareth Prep 53, Summit Academy 36 — Ky’zir Rowan scored 16 points for the Knights (7-7, 4-4) and Quaran Joiner had 10.
Karns City 34, Elk County Catholic 29 — Brooklynn Taylor scored a team-high 13 points and Savanna Prescott scored nine to lead the Gremlins (15-2, 6-1) to victory Friday night at Clarion University.
Mars 54, Moon 53 (OT) — Alexis Cashdollar and Carmella McDole scored 16 points each in a tight contest that went to overtime. Mya Moore sank the game-winning free throw with 10 seconds left.
The Planets (11-8, 5-5) stormed out to a 15-2 lead after the first quarter, but Moon whittled away at the deficit for the rest of regulation. Jaeden Griggs scored 26 points on seven 3-pointers for the visitors.
North Catholic 59, Freeport 24 — Brady Wehner scored 12 points to lead the Trojanettes in a rout.
Sam Weir scored 11 and Sarah Loughry 10 for North (16-3, 10-1), which moved into a tie with Oakland Catholic atop the section. The Yellowjackets (5-14, 4-8) got eight points from Lillian Holloway.
