Via the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh

At least six inches of white powdery snow has blanketed Butler County from Winter Storm Izzy’s overnight visit, but forecasts show more snow could come throughout Monday.

Measurements on Monday in Butler showed an average snowfall of about six inches with some measurements higher around eight inches and some lower around four inches.

The National Weather Service of PIttsburgh’s forecast has called for another three to four inches of snow throughout Monday which could add to those accumulations. The forecast shows consistent snow until about 10 a.m., when it will change to snow showers until 1 p.m.

The service also is predicting a high of 27-degree Fahrenheit and gusting wind speeds of up to 38 mph.

Butler County, along with surrounding counties, remain in a winter storm warning until 1 p.m. The service placed the warning due to the high accumulations and wind speeds.

“Untreated roads, as well as bridges and overpasses, will remain slick and hazardous,” the service said. “The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute.”
