VA hosting heart health events in February

The VA Butler Healthcare System is hosting three educational events in February as part of American Hearth Month and the annual Go Red for Women initiative.

The Go Red for Women Event takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Steele’s Brushes and Ceramics in Butler.

Heart Health Month Event for Women Veterans takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Abie Abraham VA Health Care Center, 353 N. Duffy Road in Center Township.

The Heart Health Month Event, open to all veterans, takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the main lobby at the Abie Abraham VA Health Care Center.

“Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women and is more deadly than all forms of cancer combined,” said Rebecca Brown, Butler VA women veterans program manager. “The good news is that there’s a lot we can do to prevent it. We encourage all women veterans to learn about their cardiovascular health by joining us at this year’s educational events.”
