Calvin D. Smith, 66, of Freeport, formerly of Harwick, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at his home.

He was born May 9, 1958, in Natrona Heights, and was the son of Donald L. Smith and the late Vera (Spencer) Varos.

Calvin went to the College of DuPage as a certified pastry chef and food inspector in the state of Illinois. He also was the night manager and head cook at Waffle House in Georgia, most recently working at Walmart. He enjoyed cooking, collecting die-cast cars, music, electronics, and he also loved sports, watching the Steelers and Pirates.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Nancy M. Smith. He is survived by his brothers, Jeffery W. Smith of Cheswick, Bryan of Kentucky and Norman from Texas; and his sisters, Kimmy McKrell of Natrona Heights and Cindy McKrell of Harwick.
