Woman charged with assault, strangulation
Butler police charged Sydney J. Elder, 26, of Butler with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and strangulation, and two counts of simple assault for allegedly assaulting a woman and toddler.
Police were dispatched Saturday to the 100 block of Maharg Street after a man reported Elder attacked his son and a woman at his home, the affidavit states. The resident told police Elder threw a power drill at him and his 2-year-old son, but it didn’t hit either of them, police said.
Police said they found a small cut on one of the toddler’s toes after noticing blood on his foot.
The female was bleeding from her nose, had bloody scratches on her face and marks around her neck, and her upper chest was red, police said. She told police Elder strangled her to the point where she couldn’t breathe, struck her multiple times, threw her on the floor and tried to hit her with a pole from a mini-vacuum, according to the affidavit.
Witnesses told police the boy was also shoved and possibly knocked down during the altercation.
