2 people with gunshot wounds visit Butler hospital Wednesday evening
Two people with gunshot wounds walked into Independence Health System’s Butler Memorial Hospital on Wednesday evening, Feb. 5, according to a city official.
Butler Mayor Bob Dandoy said Thursday that two people had visited the hospital the previous evening with gunshot wounds.
The shooting is believed to have taken place in, or near, the 400 block of West North Street, he said.
Neighbors said they heard gunshots near the North Street Laundromat, across from Broad Street Elementary School.
A spokesperson from Independence Health System said she was aware of an incident involving a shooting in Butler.
“Out of respect for patient confidentiality, we cannot provide further details at this time,” said Melissa Forster, marketing and communications specialist for Independence Health System. “The safety and well-being of our patients, staff and visitors remain our top priority.”
