High school roundup: Neah Ewing, Jada Burgard lead Knoch girls basketball in rout of Freeport
Neah Ewing had 14 points and Jada Burgard added 12 on four 3-pointers as Knoch downed Freeport 44-13 in girls basketball action Thursday night.
The Knights held a 24-3 lead at halftime, improving to 11-10 overall and 10-4 in WPIAL Section 1-4A.
North Catholic 75, Derry 23 — Sam Weir (12 points), Harmony Jones (11) and Brady Wehner (10) all scored double-figures for the Trojanettes, who led 43-15 at the midway point.
Slippery Rock 64, Hickory 38 — CJ Sabo had a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double for the winning Rockets.
Belle Miller and Madison Romanovich each had 12 points, and Romanovich added four assists, while Brielle Jordan finished with 10 points and four dimes.
Seneca Valley 50, Pine-Richland 45 — Gracie Cato had 27 points and the Raiders won their fifth straight to finish WPIAL Section 1-6A play a perfect 10-0 (15-5 overall).
Raely FaJohn (200-yard freestyle, 50 free) was a double winner on the girls’ side for Slippery Rock, which beat Sharon 87-65 on Thursday night. Roan Stauffer (50 free, 100 back) had a pair of solo victories on the boys’ side in a 56-26 win.
Butler beat Indiana by a score of 800-68x to 788-44x on Thursday. No further details were provided.
Moniteau girls basketball’s home game against North Clarion County and Union/A-C Valley girls basketball’s road game at Karns City were postponed Thursday.
Moniteau will play Friday, and the Karns City game has been pushed to Tuesday.
