This week proclaimed School Counseling Week
Gov. Josh Shapiro signed a proclamation designating the week of Feb. 3 to 7 as School Counseling Week in Pennsylvania, in “recognition of the invaluable role school counselors play in providing a quality educational environment.”
Lisa Philipkosky, a school counselor at Butler Intermediate High School, said Butler Area School District has 13 school counselors who work to advocate for students, provide guidance and help families navigate challenges. She said the proclamation reinforced the importance of school counselors in shaping the next generation.
“These dedicated professionals play a vital role in supporting students’ academic success, mental health and future career paths,” Philipkosky said. “Their commitment makes a lasting difference in the lives of many children.”
