Margaret Eva 'Peggy' Steele

Margaret Eva “Peggy” Steele, 59, of Butler passed away at 10:25 p.m. Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 2, 1954, in Butler, to the late Richard King Steele and Mabel Arabelle “Belle” (Gray) Steele.

Peggy was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School, then went on to earn her teaching degree at Baptist Bible College in Clark Summit, Pa. She worked as an elementary teacher at Sharon Christian School in Sharon, Pa., and at First Baptist Christian School in Butler. Peggy volunteered many years in the craft hut at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp and in recent years volunteered as the elementary librarian at First Baptist Christian School. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught the Tiny Tots and was involved in the church's missionary outreach. Peggy made a difference in many of her students' lives over the years. She had a giving heart to her students, her church family and to her own family.

Miss Steele is survived by her two brothers, Richard Kay Steele of Butler and the Rev. Karl Steele and his wife, Sarah, of Orviston, Pa.; her sister, Mary (Steele) Kuhn and her husband, Mark, of Columbus, Ohio, and her 10 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.

STEELE — There will be no public visitation for Margaret Eva “Peggy” Steele, who passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.The arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Library at the First Baptist Church, 221 W.
