Parents notified Butler Catholic will host police Tuesday
State police officers will stop by Butler Catholic School between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to have lunch with students.
Principal John Hazur said the lunch gives students a chance to build trust with officers and learn about the profession.
“We want to make students comfortable around police, like they can go to them with an issue,” Hazur said.
He said there will be several police vehicles at the campus for lunch but no lights or sirens. The school has two lunch sessions, so officers will get to meet with students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The tradition was started by Hazur’s predecessor and paused during the pandemic, he said.
“We had tabled it through the COVID years, and I wanted to bring that back,” Hazur said.
