Former Pirate Al Oliver a hit at Knoch
Al Oliver, a former Pittsburgh Pirate and 1971 World Series champion, speaks to Knoch High School students Friday about his 22 years in professional baseball and his current work for a better quality of life. He shared his impact as part of the first baseball team to field a complete starting lineup made up of players of color, the adversity the team overcame, the importance of tolerance in society, teamwork, dedication to oneself and others, and hard work. The presentation was part of the school's celebration of Black History month.
