Joseph L. Makowski, 79, of Harmony, formerly of Mt. Troy, died peacefully Sunday at Allegheny General Hospital.

Born Nov. 20, 1929, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Bernard & Anna (Bross) Makowski.

Mr. Makowski was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, Zelienople.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Audrey B. (Schranz) Makowski, whom he married, Nov. 26, 1949; two sons, Joseph J. Makowski and his wife, Diane, of Tampa, Fla., and Robert A. Makowski and his wife, Kathy, of Butler; three grandchildren, Tracey Makowski and Joseph P. Makowski and his wife, Heather, both of Tampa, Fla., and R. J. Makowski of Butler; two sisters-in-law, Emily Yukovich and her husband, Frank, of Mt. Troy and Marlene Dole of Berea, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Henry C. Wild of Ross Township and Richard Wild and his wife, Donna, of McCandless Township; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Makowski.
