The Fort Pitt Museum will welcome author Jason A. Cherry to discuss his new book, “William Trent: Factor of Ambition,” at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8.

The biography covers the rise and fall of Trent, one of the most influential backcountry merchants of the 18th century. With newly discovered primary sources, Cherry brings Trent’s saga to life in vivid detail.

Cherry’s lecture will be followed by a book signing. The lecture, which will take place in the Fort Pitt Auditorium on the museum’s first floor, is included with regular Fort Pitt Museum admission.

The museum is part of the Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center’s family of museums
