Two Seneca Valley seniors finalists for NMS program
Seneca Valley Senior High School seniors Eric Chen and Ophelia Crano have been named finalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
These Seneca Valley standouts are two of about 15,000 finalists and will now advance to the next level of the program, where they have the opportunity to earn National Merit Scholarships and, ultimately, the title of Merit Scholar.
“It’s an incredible honor to be selected as a National Merit Finalist, and it reflects my dedication to hard work and excellence,” Chen said. “This achievement inspires me, and as I continue working toward my future endeavors, I will never forget the support that brought me to this point.”
Over 1.3 million juniors in more than 21,000 high schools entered the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants.
“I am excited and honored to be selected as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist,” Crano said.
