John Yaroschak

Yaroschak

John Yaroschak, 94, of West Winfield, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the Seasons of Saxonburg.

Born April 23, 1930, in West Winfield, he was the son of Andrew Yaroschak and Mary Balesh Yaroschak. John was the last survivor of a large family of 14 children.

John is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Helen Yaroschak; his sons, John P. (Teresa) Yaroschak and Joseph A. (Barbara) Yaroschak; and two grandchildren, Chad and Chelsey Yaroschak.

John started work at the age of 17 in 1947, at Penn Dixie Cement in West Winfield. He spent the next 47 years — less two years in the Marine Corps — working at Penn Dixie as a bulk loader, retiring in 1994.

In his 94 years, he was most proud of his service to his country. John was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He proudly wore his medals on a helmet he wore every time he mowed his grass, entertaining the neighborhood. When John’s family was young, they spent many vacations boating, water skiing and swimming locally and at a family-owned island in Canada. As time went on, race cars occupied his time with both his sons. They all spent many sleepless nights building, welding and repairing to get the race car ready for race night.

John and his wife were very charitable people, opening their home caring for many children in the foster care system. Several of the children, now adults, still keep in touch with their loving foster parents.

Family members will find comfort in the memories we shared: making sure the race cars were ready and at the track; helping his sons build their homes; watching his grandson, Chad, become an Eagle Scout; and caring dearly for his granddaughter, Chelsey.
