Anthony Earl Rivers Jr., 65, of Butler, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, at his residence.

Born June 14, 1959, in Butler, he was a son of the late Anthony Earl “Nick” Rivers Sr. and Jean Margaret Collins Rivers.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served during the Persian Gulf War.

He graduated in 1979 from the Electronic Institutes with a degree in electrical technology.

Anthony was employed as a food service technician at Mancini’s Bakery in McKees Rocks, Pa.

He was a model airplane enthusiast, and he was also an avid gun collector.

He is survived by three children, Kenneth Rivers and his wife, Mary, Melissa Rivers Evitt and her husband, Josh, and Anthony Rivers III and his partner, Ashley Heasley; one brother, Joseph Rivers; two sisters, Lisa Zajacs and Jean Headley and her husband, Clyde; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Patten Rivers, who passed away Nov. 29, 2023.

RIVERS — Friends of Anthony Earl Rivers Jr., who died Monday, March 3, 2025, will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

A blessing service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with Deacon Mitch Natali, of All Saints Parish, Butler, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by American Legion Post 778, VFW Post 249 and VFW Post 499.

Burial will take place in Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Anthony’s memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org.
