Petrie

Gladys L. Petrie, 98, formerly of Penn Mar Plaza in Mars and Conway, passed away Saturday evening, March 8, 2025, at Kane Community Living Center in Ross Township, with her family by her side.

Born in Elkhart, Ind., on Feb. 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lulu McDowell Barrick.

Gladys had attended Mars United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling with the Mars Senior Citizens at Mars Lanes.

She had been an Alka-Seltzer bottler for Miles Laboratory.

Surviving are a daughter, Jacque Merkel (James) of Bluffton, S.C.; two sons, Dennis Petrie (Phyllis) of Monaca and Gary Petrie (Sara) of Latrobe; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Petrie; by two sons, Kenneth and Terry Petrie; and by four brothers and one sister.

PETRIE — Friends of Gladys L. Petrie, who died Saturday, March 8, 2025, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Ailes, hospice chaplain, officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom.
