Grove City hosting concerts
Grove City College’s Department of Music presents its Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble and its touring choir.
The concert band will present “Sweet Suite Music” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, in Ketler Auditorium in the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus.
The band will perform Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in E-flat,” and the Wind Ensemble will perform Claude T. Smith’s “Incidental Suite.” The show also features works by David Holsinger, Rossano Galante, John Philip Sousa and others.
Grove City College’s touring choir, fresh off a five-state spring break engagement, will perform a home concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 15, in Harbison Chapel on campus.
It will feature a program of sacred music, offering a variety of styles and eras, from the Renaissance to modern gospel. Director of choral activities and associate professor of music Katherine Mueller will conduct the touring choir as they interpret works by Monteverdi, Mozart, Mealor, Stopford and Moses Hogan.
Both concerts are free and open to the public. They will be livestreamed at gcc.edu/livestream.
